Breakfast:
EMANUEL D. POLLACK, PH.D.
Emanuel D. Pollack is currently Senior Associate
Dean for Undergraduate Academic Affairs in the
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the
University of Illinois at Chicago. His high regard
for advisors is reflected in his providing support
for every advisor to be a member of NACADA. He
received his undergraduate degree from Roosevelt
University and the M.S. and Ph.D. in Biology from
the University of Iowa. After a postdoctoral
fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of
Medicine, he became director of the
developmental and behavioral science program at
the Illinois Institute for Developmental Disabilities.
Pollack has published numerous scientific papers
in the field of developmental neurobiology while
teaching popular biology courses. As a member
of the state-wide steering panel for the Illinois
Articulation Initiative, Pollack uses his position to
“keep advisors in the loop.”

MARK KELLY, VICE PRESIDENT OF STUDENT AFFAIRS
As the chief student affairs officer of the college, Mark Kelly provides leadership and comprehensive services and programs to enhance the educational, social, and personal development of Columbia's students. He oversees all of the student affairs units, including admissions, residence life, multicultural affairs, student galleries and performance spaces, the advising center, the portfolio center, and student life and leadership. He is also the founder of such bedrock annual events as Manifest and the New Student Convocation, as well as overseeing Columbia's commencement ceremonies.
Mr. Kelly has been a staff member at Columbia College Chicago since 1984, as associate vice president of planning (1994-2000); acting dean of students (1993-94); associate dean of students (1991-93); director of counseling services (1989-91); director of academic advising (1986-89); and career advisor for film/video, art & design, and photography (1984-86). Prior to his work at Columbia, he held positions at Wayne State University and City Colleges of Chicago.
Mr. Kelly holds a master of arts in counseling from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor of arts in sociology from John Carroll University.
